Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 13, 2026

1. Who we are

These terms and conditions apply to all services and orders of Special Transporter, based in Purmerend, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce 71937927 (Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce), VAT NL002094919B80. We have been providing express transport and courier services since 1993.

2. Order confirmation

A transport order is established only after Special Transporter has personally confirmed your request. A request via the form or the price calculator is not a confirmed booking. The order is binding only after our written or verbal confirmation.

3. Services

Special Transporter offers dedicated transport (exclusive vehicle, direct from pickup to delivery address) and consolidated transport. We drive with our own vehicles across the Netherlands and Europe. The choice between dedicated and consolidated is determined in consultation with you.

4. Prices and surcharges

Our rates are based on kilometre price, fuel surcharge and any time-based surcharges. The price indication from the calculator is an estimate; the final price is set at confirmation. Rates exclude toll, ferry and overnight costs unless otherwise agreed. The applicable VAT is determined under the applicable VAT legislation and depends on the nature of the service, the destination and the status and place of establishment of the customer; for domestic transport, 21% Dutch VAT generally applies, unless an exemption or reverse-charge rule applies. Insofar as the calculator shows a fixed VAT rate, this is a simplified indication; the final VAT treatment follows from the confirmation and the applicable legislation.

5. Liability

For international road transport to which the CMR Convention applies, the liability regime of the CMR Convention applies in full; mandatory provisions of the CMR Convention prevail over conflicting contractual agreements. For domestic road transport within the Netherlands, the General Transport Conditions 2002 (AVC 2002) of Stichting Vervoeradres apply, insofar as validly agreed and applicable, in accordance with the liability regime arising from them. Mandatory statutory provisions always prevail over conflicting contractual provisions. Special Transporter does not stipulate its own liability caps, insurance limits or exclusions that conflict with mandatory law. The text of the AVC 2002 is made available to the customer before or at the conclusion of the transport contract — in writing, by email or in another suitable manner — and not merely by means of a reference on the website. The version used is the AVC 2002 as published by Stichting Vervoeradres. For the current text and any usage rights, reference is made to Stichting Vervoeradres.

6. Customer obligations

You must provide correct and complete information about the shipment, including weight, dimensions and nature of the cargo. The cargo must comply with legal requirements. Special or hazardous goods must be reported in advance.

7. Cancellation and changes

A confirmed transport order can be cancelled or changed up to 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time. In case of cancellation more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time, no cancellation costs are charged. In case of cancellation within 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time, 100% of the agreed trip price is charged. If the driver has already been deployed or the shipment is not offered at the agreed time, 100% of the agreed trip price is likewise charged in principle. The cancellation fee is calculated exclusively on the agreed trip price and does not include any additional surcharges. This arrangement applies insofar as permitted by law and with due observance of mandatory provisions, including the validly agreed AVC 2002, the CMR Convention where applicable, and consumer protection provisions. Insofar as mandatory rules prescribe a limitation of the cancellation fee (such as a reasonableness or damage-mitigation requirement), those rules prevail; the full cancellation fee is therefore not automatically enforceable in every situation. The cancellation arrangement is clearly communicated to the customer before order confirmation.

8. Payment

Invoices must be paid within 14 days after the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed in writing. In case of late payment, the statutory commercial interest and the statutory collection costs are due in accordance with the applicable statutory rules.

9. Disputes and applicable law

All agreements with Special Transporter are governed by Dutch law, insofar as this is legally valid and insofar as mandatory provisions do not oppose it. For international road transport, the provisions of the CMR Convention prevail, including the jurisdiction rules of article 31 CMR. For domestic transport, the validly agreed AVC 2002 prevail. Disputes are, insofar as a valid choice of forum is possible, submitted to the competent court in the Amsterdam district; insofar as article 31 CMR provides its own jurisdiction rule, that rule prevails.
